Fridge Running too Much

I have a frigidaire fridge/freezer side by side (model frs6r5esbl). The freezer seems to be running way too much. I used a thermometer and the freezer is near 0 and the fridge is at 40F. However, the freezer seems to run nearly all the time. It does turn off after it has been on for about an hour, but it only turns off for about 5 minutes before comming back on for an hour.

I vacuumed behind and under the fridge, but it had no effect. We also cleaned out the freezer and it is now bout 3/4 full. Any idea why it would be running so much? It's about 5 years old and never ran so constantly before now.

Thanks

When you vacummed out unit was it pretty dirty ? Did you see the condensor fan underneath or behind the unit ? Dust build up is the leading cause of your problem. I'm thinking maybe you missed the most important areas.

PJmax, thanks for the quick reply.

I removed a carboard cover and vacuumed around some coils and in the bottom of the fridge. I did not see a fan, but did not really look closely. I will remove the cover again and double check.

Yes......the fan is usually in what looks like a tunnel. It's really important to get a good flow of air. The fan itself may be quite dirty. Kitchens = dust and grease

I clean underneath the fridge and got all the dust out, but that didn't fix the problem. I set the freezer temperature to the lowest setting, but the freezer is still running and at nearly 0F. Any other ideas?
