top load washer trouble, Roper by whirlpool

Hello, i have a top load roper washer that is only a couple of years old.It fills fine, washes fine, and spin and drain fine, but only spin and drain if advanced manually. It will fill for the rinse cycle but not advance, the water will just sit in the washer until i manually advance it to spin, so it seems to be completeing every cycle except for rinse. Any help/suggestions is greatly appreciated.

When the timer tells the machine to fill with water....either wash or rinse.....the timer motor shuts off and it won't advance until the water fill switch senses enough water. Then fill switch turns off the incoming water and transfers control back to the timer.

So just to make sure I understand your problem.....if you go start a wash cycle....the machine fills up and then shuts off or does it go right to agitate ?

I am actually doing a load of wash as i am typing. It fills with water and agitates during the wash cycle, then it fills with the rinse water but wont agitate during that cycle, so i guess i bypass that when i manually advance it to spin.So to clarify it works as intended during the wash cycle, agitate ect, then no agitate during the rinse, then i manually advance to spin to complete the load. thanks again for the help/ suggestions

It sounds like the timer is sticking. One thing to check first does the cold water work, Put washer in cold and see if cold water comes in. Rinse cycles work on cold water. re read see that washer is filling in cold most likely timer.

ok, i will double check the cold water but i believe it is ok it seems to be filling up for the rinse cycle just not agitating, but i will double check. If it is the timer,is there a video or instuction on how to replace it. Just checked the cold water, with the water level switch on large the cold water was coming out very slow, trickle, no pressure at all.

Check the screen in the valve inlet. If the screen is clean you will need a fill valve. Post model # and can get you the part diagram.
