Electric Oven not heating past about 300 degrees...heeelp
Hey Everyone,
I hope everyone had a great holidays and hope you have a Happy New Year.
Since we cooked Christmas dinner on the 26th our oven will no longer get above about 300 degrees. If I set the pre heat to 400-425 all it does is get to about 300 and start making clicking noises. This makes me think it is a thermostat problem. People have suggested it is the element but I would think if the element went, it would not be heating at all.
The model is Kenmore C970-655933.
Any suggestions would be great. I would hate to pay $100 for a tech to come in and tell me it is a $5.00 fix.
Thanks alll.

Welcome and Happy New Year in Canada
Interesting......since this range was manufactured outside the U.S. there is very little online technical info available to me about it.
Kenmore/canada was a little help. At least they gave me a picture of the unit.
I doubt it's the element or you wouldn't get any heat.
I couldn't enlarge the picture I got from Kenmore.ca to see if that unit has a mechanical timer or is a electronically controlled oven.
It looks to be a an electronic oven with a digital display for temperature setting.
If that is the case then your thermostat is probably ok.
I would say you need the sensor unit for the oven. Most likely a round metal device.....might be the diameter of a pencil.....copper colored ......and mounted in the top left back of the oven. Would probably be held in place with two screws.
You would need to pull unit away from wall. Remove two screws in top part of shiny metal cover on back of unit. Wiring and plug should be visible there for sensor.
After a lot of cross checking .....the link below should be close to your unit. The part I feel you need would be #5
