Whirlpool Washer Help

Hey. I seem to be having a bit of trouble with my whirlpool washer. It was working perfect until yesterday and since then it has not been draining properly. basically, it will fill up and agitate but wont complete the draining cycle. When it comes time for it to drain, I can hear a clicking sound where the timer is (louder than normal) and it wont spin or drain at all. If I interrupt the agitation by lifting the lid, it will stop. So I'm fairly confident it's not the lid switch. If the washer is full of water; the only way I can get it to drain is if I take off the drain hose at the back (Causing my basement floor to become soaked even with a bucket to help catch water). If I let the basket empty, then let it fill with about 2L of water or less, then put it on the high spin cycle it will work. It will drain some of the 2 liters of water, but also build up enough pressure to cause the hose at the back to come off and water to drain as stated above. If I keep the hose on the back by force, it starts making a load noise and doesn't drain(So I obviously let it come off). This has been overwhelmingly frustrating . Any help more specific to my problem would be awesome.

Thanks,

Andrew

Welcome to the forum.....neighbor to the north

When you're done creating a swimming pool in the laundry room, see if you find me a model number.

Have you looked inside yet ?
Do you have an electric pump or a belt driven one....inquiring minds want to know.

Sounds more like a plumbing issue. Don't disconnect drain from washer but take hose out of wall connection and put in a bucket and try to drain now. Careful upto25 gallons of water in washer, only turn on for a few seconds.

Thanks for the welcome and the quick reply. Ultimate Care II model # SM 8280867 is the model. I believe it is a belt, but I'm not 100% sure on that. I'd also like to point out that the waste-water tube at the back goes directly to an adjacent sink/tub. I have already checked the waste tube for clogging and this isn't the case. I have also laid the tube into a bucket on the ground in case it is just the pump not being strong enough to push water the 4 feet up to the sink.

Thanks,

Andrew

That may be a part number.
Is your washer a LSQ954L?? top loader ?

The model number is usually right below the lid when you open.....all the way down under the lid on the edge of the machine. Your number may be correct if yours is an international model.

It's important that we get the correct machine so we know exactly what you have there. The following is based on the model number I came up with based on what you gave me.

The pump is part # 22 in diagram and is direct drive.....no belt. So I doubt the pump is the issue. It may be a bad clutch assembly. See part # 5 in the diagram.

After you click on the link....you'll see a small diagram. Click on view full size at bottom of diagram and it will open the pic in a new screen. You can then click on the pic for full screen view and use the cursor to move the pic around for best view.
