Hi folks, I have a Kenmore dryer with the following specs:
- Kenmore Dryer 700 series
- model # 11077751600
- serial # MU2303267
My dryer recently started making a very uncomfortable squeaky noise when started. The noise is very loud in the beginning of the cycle, disappears when the dryer becomes hotter, and then the noise comes back faintly in the end.
At first I thought it was a belt issue since the dryer is 8 years old but even after replacing the belt with a new one the sound still persists, of course no where as loud as before. The bearings and motor are fine and have no issues at all.
The only fix I've found is a temporary one. The only time my dryer doesn't make any high-pitched squeaky noise is when I spray the tiny wheel under the drum with WD-40. After this everything runs fine until the WD-40 dries off.
If you know anything about this type of issue then I would really appreciate all the help I can get. Thank you : )

The drum rides on support rollers as you have seen. As long as they aren't worn out or wobbly you can lubricate them.
WD-40 is not the proper lubricant for them.
I use a black lithium based high heat grease.
The grease needs to hold up to high heat without running or thinning.
The supports can be removed by carefully taking off the plastic triangle shaped clip.
