frozen ice maker fill tube
Hello,
My ice maker fill tube is filling with ice!!! The ice mold is full and the ice chunk continues to the tube. I have had to remove the unit to thaw it out. It worked fine overnight but then froze again. What could be causing this?
Thanks.

Like Dane suggested......you have a leaking fill solenoid. Pretty common problem.
When the unit requests water.....it fills the tray and shuts off. The incoming water is not cold so it doesn't freeze in the tube.
When the valve leaks.....it allows the water to enter the fill tube drip by drip allowing it plenty of time to freeze and buildup.
If you leave the make and model of your fridge I'll leave you a link to the part.
The valve is located in the lower corner on the back of the fridge. The unit would have to be moved from the wall to replace it.

The fill valve is part # 10 in the parts list.

Part # 2315576
That part can be found in many parts suppliers.......even at amazon. So feel free to shop for best price and buy where you are most comfortable.

Thank you.
Update
I used a hair dryer to melt the ice in the chute to the ice tray. It seemed to work fine for a day or two, full bin of ice. There is no ice buildup in the chute. Now the harvest cycleruns every 40 minutes or so, but it does not fill with water. I cant even hear the selonoid click open to let the water in.
Is it still the valve??
