Frigidaire Ice Maker Problems

Hello Everyone, I have a Frigidaire side by side Model #FRS6HR5JW0 and the ice maker isn't working right. To start off, it does fill with water, it does freeze, but when it comes time to harvest the ice the 2 gears that turn the arm will work but then skip gears and struggle, by the time the ice gets out it is melted and small cubes. then it will fill back up then overflow because there is already water left in the molds. I thought it was the heating element, but I know that works because I burnt my finger checking it. any ideas or suggestions would be appreciated.

I don't know how I missed this post. Must have been a senior moment.

My fridge had the same ice maker. I rebuilt it several times and finally the motor froze. Parts are available to rebuild them. You will need to be technically oriented as there are parts that will fall out when unit is opened. You can also replace the entire unit with an aftermarket one. I bought one from a company on eBay. It was around 50 bucks and has been working great.

If you'd like to look for parts the following link has a good internal view of the ice maker.

The part number for the ice maker is 241642501
