LG Refrigerator Ice Problems

Hi all,

I have an LG refrigerator, model number LFX31925SB/00.
The ice maker will not make ice. No water comes out to fill the trays,
the tray doesn't move to drop the would-be ice.

However,
when I push the test button, the tray moves down, then back up, as to drop any ice in the trays. Then, water comes out to fill the trays, it freezes into
ice, but the machine doesn't drop it into the ice bucket. And then there's no more operation.

Any suggestions are appreciated.

Thanks, Ruben

Welcome to the forums.

Unfortunately there seems to be an extraordinary amount of complaints on these ice makers.

If your tray is full and it didn't harvest the cubes then it could be either the freezer isn't cold enough or the bin full mechanism is active. The freezer needs to be 5 degrees or lower for the unit to dump cubes.

Thanks for your reply. With the hot California weather, I'll lower my freezer temp. a little more.

That has the ice maker in the door of the fridge, which means cold air is blown up from the freezer to freeze the ice. Make sure the ice room fan is running. It is usually in the back of the freezer in the upper left corner. You have to hold the door switch when the freezer drawer is open to make it run. You may have to remove the evaporator cover in the freezer to see it. It may just be iced up and stuck with ice chunks.

Does this fridge have a water filter? Couled be plugged or defective. They also "expire" every 6 months, but I don't know if expiring will stop the water flow.
The ones with water filters also come with a dummy filter. Try using it.
