Kenmore elite only runs with button pushed -- motor or controller board?
Hey all, I have read many of the threads with similar titles -- kenmore dryer only runs with button pushed.
I have a kenmore elite model 110-70972990.
Recently it quit working unless you press the button to keep it running. I read on the forum that you should:
a) swap the two relays and see if the problem persists when running with air fluff only -- it does persist.
b) try to clean out the motor...
I took the dryer apart and it was FULL of lint. Vacuumed everything out and used a compressor to blow out the motor/centrificial clutch as much as I could NASTY.
Put everything back together again and still has the same problem. I tried to get it to work and it did catch 1 time. But no more.
So, what next? Controller board or new motor?
Help please?

You have already swapped the relays so the next thing is the control board. # 6 in picture. Look at your board and see if there is a burn mark on lower part of board, if there you know for sure board is bad if not there it is a guess but pretty sure that's the problem.

Hey Thanks for the help! I looked and sure enough the board was burned. I simply replaced all three of the 16V zener diodes with new ones and everything worked like a champ!
