Dishes Still Dirty and White Film Deposited
I have a 3-year old Maytag dishwasher, model MDB4709AWS1.
Problem: the washer is not cleaning the dishes and a white residue is deposited on the dishes and flatware. I have checked for debris in the sump basin, and I also checked the black flapper valve. No problems.
One year ago I had to replace the control panel. It failed again last week and I once again replaced it.
Water flow into my hose is extremely low, just 3 gpm. PSI is just 50. Could either be the issue?

Low flow on the fill water could be a problem if your machine fills only by time and not with a float valve. Do you run the hot water in the sink until it gets hot BEFORE starting the dishwasher? Do you use the extended wash cycle and the sanitizing (high heat) cycle? You also need to try different brands of detergent.

50 PSI is more then enough pressure.
Low flow can be undersized supply lines, old steel lines closing up on the inside from corrosion, water softener needing service.
If there's no softener you may need one. May want to get the water tested.

I had a similar problem when phosphates were required to be removed from dishwasher detergents. After a lot of monkeying around I found that my long time favorite brand was the culprit - so I switched around until I found one (new at the time but currently the most popular) that worked properly ...
several friends with similar issues also switched to this brand and were similarly rewarded with restored dishwasher performance
