Kenmore 80 washer tubs fills...that is all

The tub on my Kenmore 80 series washer fills but I get no agitation, spin, or draining. Could it be the lid switch is defective? I accessed the switch and housing appears to be intact and not broken. The switch makes a "click" sound when paddle is depressed. I don't have a continuity tester so don't know for sure if its bad.

post model # can help better. Don't think lid switch usually will agitate if bad. Possible white wire that goes to motor is not making connection and will cause your problem.Lean washer back against wall and wiggle wires it may start.

Kenmore Series 80 Washer Won't Spin

I have a Kenmore washing machine model #24862300 that won't spin out the clothes. This problem has gone on for 10 months now and has really become worse over the past month. Everything else works fine. It just will not spin the clothes out. It is not the lid switch. I have determined that. I use to be able to manually give the tub a "push" to get it going and it would catch and spin out. No more. I use to be able to turn it back to the agitate cycle (with no water) , run that for 30 seconds and quickly turn it to the spin cycle and it would catch. That is now few and far between. I can hear the motor running and I can almost hear the gears catch IF I turn it on and off quickly while in the spin cycle. The machine does agitate, fill and drain with no problem. It runs through the spin cycle, it just won't spin. One more thing - while in the spin cycle at times I am able to "spin" the tub and others times it is locked. Any ideas.....gear box? Is this worth replacing? I can't afford a new washer.....I can't afford a repair person to fix it and I hate to put money out only to find that wasn't the problem. I've checked the strainer at the bottom. I've use a shop-vac to suck out all the water multiple times. As far as I can tell, there's nothing in the drain line, but I didn't pull it out completely and clear it because that would be a major pain. I did notice that the drain line connects to the normal drain under the sink and not the disposal, but that doesn't really concern me since there's no backup in the sink. Tried baking soda and vinegar after reading some stuff online, but all that did was foam up the bottom. The dishwasher is probably the one they stuck in when they built the house. Main reason I'm posting is to look for a simple solution I haven't found Googling. With MLK sales coming, I might buy a new one, but I don't really want to deal with two weeks of sucking water out of it if I don't have to.Read More
