Kenmore 80 Series Washer - Delicate Cycle Won't Run

Model Number 110.27802690

All cycles seem to run except for the delicate cycle. On delicate, I hear some faint noise from the control knob box, but no activity in any phase of the wash cycle. However, I ran through a complete wash cycle in Normal. Could this just be a loose connection?

Thanks.

Welcome to the forums.

Just to clarify..... when on delicate..... the tub won't fill either ?

I'm leaning towards a timer issue although since the delicate cycle is used the least.... it's the cycle that usually always works.

Sorry—it did fill, then stopped running. Wouldn't continue at any point in the cycle after filling. I could hear that faint mechanical noise when the selector knob was engaged, but no activity. But when I turned the knob to Normal, it cycled through fine. Oddly, I fiddled with a bunch of connections, closed it back up, and now it's running in the delicate cycle. Nothing looked loose. Maybe I bumped the timer and that was enough to get it to operate?

A couple of more pieces of information: first, we use the delicate cycle most of the time, so it looks like our case is abnormal. Second, when I was watching it go through the normal cycle, I thought the timer was behaving oddly at first (i.e., moving at an unusual rate), but then it proceeded normally, so I thought maybe it was my imagination.

Thanks for your response!

The service info is unclear..... is this a washer/dryer combo unit ?

There are contacts inside the timer that are connected to the terminals where the wires are connected. Sometimes just moving those wires or the wire harness around the timer will move the contacts and they'll work again. It may, however, only be for a short while.

The timer part number is 3949210. Available from many online parts sellers, amazon, etc. and the link below as well as your local appliance parts reseller. You can search using the part number.

It's a standalone, top load washer. I'll try the timer. Thanks for the input!
