Washing Machine No Spin

Looks like a lot of people have this problem.

Kenmore washer won't drain or spin after wash cycle.

Washes fine, agitates fine.

I think it's the timer?? Timer feels like it's "loose" or "skipping gears" right around the spin area.

It has several spin cycles you may choose, after wash, rinse, delicates, etc.
None of the different spin cycles work.

Thanks

Kenmore
110.23812100
It's probably about 12 years old, looks new.
Everything works good. If I remember correctly, I think I changed the timer once before. Or maybe the coupler, I don't remember. I know I haven't fixed any major parts.

Thanks.

It just occurred to me. The lid switch doesn't feel or sound right either. Maybe instead of the timer it's the switch. If I had my choice, the switch feels a little off more than the timer I described above as being "loose".

Thanks

That sounds like a defective lid switch. Most machines will fill and agitate with the lid up but won't drain or spin.

It's definitely the switch. I unscrewed it and it's in bad shape.
The wires aren't long enough to change it with the top on, Plus it's grounded to the chassis with a pigtail.
Anyone know how to access it??
It looks like I need to remove the back panel or does the top of the washer lift up?
I can see under the top and it has sheet metal screws screwed into nylon bushings. So I don't want to try to lift the top up unless it's designed to.

Thanks

Wow, Thanks a lot. I never would have figured that out on my own. Most of the time it's obvious how to take something apart. This is far from obvious but looks simple once you know.

Enjoy your Sunday and thanks again.

I just took my washer apart in a matter of minutes.....
Amazing.

BTW if I took it apart the way I wanted to I'd be shopping for a new washer right now.

Especially if you tried to take the back off.

Good luck with the repair.
