Whirpool Ice maker won't stop making ice

My Whirpool ice maker will not stop making ice which causes the ice to overflow. The arm goes up and down so I am not sure why it would continuously make ice. Thanks in advance for any help.

Does it stop when you push it up manually and put it in the stop position ?

The arm actually does not stay up if I pull the ice tray out and push it up. It just falls back down. Do I have to replace the whole icemaker? It is only 1 year old.

If you post the model number of the fridge I can look up the icemaker.

Do you know that model of the ice-maker? The refrigerator model # is WRF560SEYB00. I attached a picture of my ice-maker. I even tapped the metal arm in the off position and it still continues to makes ice. Thanks

It looks like the arm is not connected in the control unit properly.

The ice maker comes out with just two screws. Then you unplug it. Pull off the front of the ice maker. That white cover just snaps on. Remove the 4 screws and carefully remove the control section. Maybe you can see what the issue is with the stop bale/arm.

Ice maker part number W10190952. Using this part number you can find many places that carry the original and replacement non-OEM models. I've purchased several aftermarket units on eBay for under $50.

The control section is replaceable separately.
