Whirlpool Washer model LLR9245BQ1

My washer has started pumping in water at the end of the hand washables cycle. It spins out fine and if I'm standing there to immediately open the lid after the spin stops then the clothes are as dry as normal. If I let it continue until the timer stops the cycle, then it pumps in another inch or two of water. Can anyone tell me what the problem is? It only happens on the hand washables cycle.

Thanks

Does it leave the water in washer or does it spin again after water enters?

No, it doesn't spin any more, it stops then with water in the tub and the clothes soaking wet.

Not a common problem but sounds like the timer.
