GE refrigerator water dispenser slow after filter change
Every time I install a new water filter (MSWF) in my GE frig (Model: GSH F5M GXC EWW), the water dispenses really slow. It was working fine before change. If I put old filter back in it is slow too (leads me to believe it is not a problem with the new or old filter). Last time it seemed to start working correctly after a few days, or maybe after I removed / inserted it 50 times, I forget. If I loosen it slightly it increases flow a tad, but not enough. I've tried filling the filter with water slowly in sink first and with it empty.
Unfortunately I can't find the bypass plug to test without filter.
Now it's been in a few weeks and still hasn't gotten back to normal flow
I found a post somewhere on the web where a guy put a hose gasket on top the filter before inserting it to force a tiny black switch to engage better. It is such a tight fit I hate to try this.
I noticed on a part site drawing somewhere that the original filter spec'd for this frig is no longer made so they recommend MSWF now... wonder if that is the issue.
New filter assembly is $64, if it were closer to $20 I would just buy it...

I've had it with GE after this frig...
1) water valve leak problem since day after warranty expired caused small to large glaciers on top the icemaker for 4 years intermittently. Finally replaced valve and fixed the problem (I hope I didn't just jinx myself).
2) freezer shelves too small and would fall from day one. Fixed with plastic tube around shlef edges.
3) water filter dispenser flow problem

Ya, the ice cubes seem to be full size. I'm pretty sure the ice maker water line bypasses the water filter. When I had to change the water valve 6 months ago, seems like there was a tube going straight up to the icemaker from it.
