Cannot get mildew smell out of washing machine
This has been driving me crazy. My washing machine stinks like mildew. I've loaded it with bleach and hot water, simple green, a gallon of vinegar, you name it.
What the heck?

Affresh or tide has a product for this. If a front loader leave door open. Google washer odors and you will find pages of things on this.

I have a top loader and if the clothes are left in overnight I get that smell.
I've used both the Tide and Affresh clothes washer cleaners and they're both good products.
Most of the big box stores carry them.

I guess I must live right. I have a front-loading machine and I have never had a stink in the machine. It is not uncommon for me to leave a load of clothes in overnight and sometimes even a couple of days without any problem. Maybe it has to do with using a hot water cycle, 140 degrees F. according to the dial. For bedding I bump it up to 160 degrees in case their are any "critters" in the bedding.

I'll see if I can find these products and update on how they work. I'm surprised bleach and everything else I've tried hasn't worked. I also used "LemiShine" to no avail - however that product worked AWESOME on my dishwasher but that was for hard water buildup. I think citric acid was the active ingredient on that one.
I'll be back soon - Thanks for the input!
