Need expert advice on complicated washer hot water issue

Hey all I've recently bought an older washer, Maytag, not sure of the model number I'll have to check and repost in a bit, but basically I've connected both hoses to their appropriate water temperature pipes and no matter what temperature I choose hot/warm/cold, only cold water comes out.

First thing I did was to turn off the hot water source and leave the cold water on. I then switched the temperature on the washer to cold and of course cold water came out. Then I switched to warm and cold water came out as expected as well. I then switched to hot and COLD water came out when I was expecting nothing to come out.

Also I checked the hot water hose itself by disconnecting from the washer and leaving it connected to the wall and opened the water and hot water flowed out through the hose so no issue with the source or hose.

When I connected both hoses again to their proper temperature sources and shut off the COLD source but left the hot open, no temperature setting hot/warm/cold had water coming out at all.

I checked the screen on the inlet valve(?) and there was no blockage or sediment built up at all, a clean screen.

Any ideas on what could be causing this??

Thanks all!

Welcome to the forums.

There are two solenoids in the fill valve assembly.... one for hot and one for cold. The hot water solenoid could be bad. Some machines pulse the hot water when filling.
