kenmore series 80 dryer that wont start

Looking for ideas on why this dryer will not start. I worked fine yesterday and today it would not start. You press the start button and you do not hear anything. I took of the back to check the thermal fuse. I unplugged the dryer and disconntected the thermal fuse and then taped the two ends together and tried turning the dryer back on and nothing happened. There is power going to everything and I dont have a lot of money to call a repairman and I was hoping this might be an easy fix. The door shuts tight so I am going to guess it thinks that it is closed so I was thinking it mght be the switch. When I go to turn it on as nothing happens when I touched the two ends of the thermal fuse together because from what I was reading if the fuse was gone thne once I plug it back in and touch those two wire together then it should turn on. Any ideas.

Post model # and can help better 80 series is just a name.Model # inside door. 1st thing to do is turn off the breakers and turn them on again do it a couple of times. heck for 240 volts at back of dryer. Look inside door and see if there is a switch tab in there and feel if it works.
