Maytag fridge randomly freezing items

This unit is about 3 years old. randomly, items in the fridge are frozen. It is a bottom freezer type if that helps.

There doesn't seem to be any rhyme or reason either. top shelf near the back - frozen tomato. veggie drawer in the front - frozen carrot. half of a watermelon in the front on the middle shelf - frozen.

We even turned the temp down a notch but this has started happening out of nowhere. I can't figure out what has changed that might have a clue as to why it is happening.

Thoughts?

The usual freeze areas are to the back and mostly down low in the fridge as the cold air falls.

Most of the new fridges use electronic damper doors to regulate the flow of cold air. They also have thermistors in certain areas to measure temperature.

One of two things could be happening... the damper is getting stuck and not closing all the way or one of the thermistors has drifted out of factory calibration.

Post the model number of the unit for me.

Hey PJ, ever come up with anything?

I got the fridge temp to stay around 35 degrees by turning it way down but like you said, there must be an actual malfunction and I'd prefer to fix it.
