Dishwasher door gasket seal money saving ideas!?

I have a GE gsd3800g00cc and the rubber door seal has bit the dust. Come to find out that no hardware store carries such items (according to whomever i spoke to on the phone) and through lowes, home depot, sears, and GE's part supplier this piece is over $60. Can anyone recommend a cheaper option? Perhaps a generic/universal style gasket, or I've seen "make your own gasket" goop, not sure if that would be possible. I just feel 60+ dollars for a 5 foot piece of rubber is a little ridiculous.

I agree that the price IS ridiculous but that is what you will have to pay if you are interested in doing the job correctly. Any generic or home brew gasket is almost guaranteed to leak.

The door gasket is part # WD08X10057. If you put it in your search engine you'll find many deals on the price..... even up to half of what you found.
