Whirlpool Range Burner Problem

I have a Whirlpool cooker model # RF365PXKW serial #RP1249916
I had to replace the burner receptacle, and I had the old one apart and the wires hanging (I know, I know) while I waited for the new receptacle to arrive. I accidently turned on that burner instead of the intended burner and heard a "POOF!" I turned it off, but the indicator light remained on. The other burners work fine. I replaced the receptacle but the burner still doesn't work, and the light remains on. Is there a fuse I might have blown? I unplugged the cooker until I can find out what to do. Thanks for your help. Martha

The indicator light is wired off of the burner switch. I suspect that you fried the switch, which is why the light is still on and the burner does not heat.

Thanks. Can I replace the switch? Is it the infinite switch?

You'll probably have to check back for an experienced repair person.
I looked at the parts diagram and it's not very clear. They show one switch on the control panel. My guess is all the other switches are the same and you would order that part number shown.
I would wait for confirmation before ordering.

The infinite control is replaceable and is dependent on the burner size. See part 4 in the parts pictorial.

Thanks so much for your help, guys. I find home repair a struggle, but sometimes very satisfying too.
