Heating element on dishwasher will not work

I have aWhirlpool dishwasher. My heating element will not come on during heat cycle. I have checked element using a OHM meter and the element has current. I heard it has something to do with timer. Can somebody help me out?

Welcome to the forums!

Please post the model number of your dishwasher. There should be a label some place with it.

Your timer tells the heating element when to come on. If it's a mechanical timer then the timer actually turns on the element. If it's an electronic keypad then the electronics activate a relay which turns on the element.

A model number would be needed to continue.

Videos illustrating testing and replacement of the element are located here...
Whirlpool Dishwasher Won't Dry Dishes - Model DU1015XTXB3 - Repair Clinic

Your unit uses a high limit thermostat. It will need to be checked for continuity.

I have checked for continuity for the thermostat and element. Both showed continuity. Dishwasher is a little over a year old. You were saying something bout a timer being bad? Can you give me some more info on that subject? I also think the element was never working from when I first installed the dishwasher. I always thought that I had bought a dishwasher that didn't dry my dishes very good until the day I felt the heating element when it was on dry cycle and it wasn't hot.
