Amana refrigerator with bottom freezer problem

I have an Amana refrigerator with a pull-out bottom freezer drawer. The pull-out drawer handle is secured to the exterior of the drawer on each end but the right end has become loose. There is about 1/4 inch of space between the handle and the drawer surface. Since the mounting hardware isn't visible on either side of the drawer, can anyone tell me how to tighten the loosened mounting hardware?

Give us the model number. Look up the parts manual and see where the fasteners are attached. It will show you how to access those parts.

I'd need the model number for your fridge as every unit is different.

Some you need to pull the drawer out to see the fasteners and some have a snap cover over the fasteners.

Forgive me for not responding sooner but I never received an email to notify me that you had replied.

The refrigerator is an Amana Model No. AFI2538AEW

After reading the Use & Care Guide carefully, I found a paragraph that reads:

To Remove:
1. With both hands, firmly grasp the handle toward the right side.
2. Slide toward the left, lift and remove from surface.

I used this procedure to remove the vertical handles from both sides of the refrigerator compartment without any problem. However, when I try to do it on the horizontal handle on the freezer door, I am unable to slide it to the left as instructed. The "mounting post" that is attached to the right side of the door appears to have backed out about 1/4" and that seems to have caused a binding or misalignment. Any other suggestions as to how I can remove this handle will be appreciated because I can't seem to justify spending $75 for a service call for something this "SIMPLE".......Buz

See if the exploded view can help you. Without seeing it I'm not quite picturing it.

Amana freezer door/drawer/toe grill parts | Model AFI2538AEW | SearsPartsDirect

Click on "view full size" under diagram.
When diagram open in new page.... click on the new diagram for an exploded view. You can use your cursor or arrow buttons to navigate.

Thanks everyone for your suggestions. Actually I was able to spray the mounting posts on the door behind the handle with WD-40 and then the procedure outlined in the manual (#5 above) worked. After I removed the handle from the door I was able to tighten both mounting posts and then reattach the handle. I have no idea how the mounting post on the right became loose in the first place but it is tight now and I plan to check it occasionally. Thanks again....Buz
