Whirlpool front loading washing machine noisy

My front loading whirlpool washing machine suddenly started making a lot of noise. It sounds like the belt is squeeking, and there's a knocking sound when the tumbler spins. I've not fixed one of these before, any suggestions?

Post model # need to know which washer you have. 2 quick checks 1st reach inside and turn basket, should turn free and smooth.
2nd lift up on basket and see if there is any play between basket and tub.

I made a mistake. It's a Firgidaire. I can't seem to find the model number. I lifted up on the basket. It seems to move quite a bit. As for spinning it, It seems to spin pretty well, but when I do there is a loud clunk sound.

Model # inside door, Any looseness of basket in tub is bad. Lift up stainless basket and if tub does not move with it you need a basket and rear tub about $500 for parts. Guessing washer about 8 to 10 years old and very common problem.

It's a front loader. Not sure if that matters. I lifted the basket. It moved, tub didn't really move at all. Unit is about 8 years old now. Is it something worth repairing?
