Talking Kenmore 80 Series WASHER skips WASH CYCLE

my washer fills up, pauses (thru the whole wash cycle), and then completes the rinse cycle with no problems. I have noticed though, that the contents after the spin cycle is left a little damp.....so a repeat spin is needed.

This problem started out a few months ago with the knob not working properly, with ticking noise/timer being off. So I would have to maneuver the knob manually by advancing thru the cycle for the washer to continue working. Then it has progressed to this.... A washer that does everything BUT wash! Please help!!

Welcome to the forums.

We're going to need the model number for your Kenmore washer.

Normally I'd say the water fill pressure switch was bad but your timer is still running which eliminates that switch and points to the timer.

Have you tried different cycles.... especially gentle ?

Sounds like timer to me. Does it agitate in rinse? Please check model # did not work.

The model number is good. You need to remove the decimal point for Parts direct.

Yes, I have tried other cycles... Same problem

Fills up, pauses and "pretends to go thru a wash cycle" by allowing the timer run it's course, then it will spit out the water and finish the spin cycle with no problem!

BUT my problem is, NO WASH CYCLE actually taking place.

Is it repair-able, or should I start shopping for a new washer come Black Friday? HELP!!!

Yes it's fixable but timer part #3952990 is 143.00 on Sears site. may find it cheaper someplace else.
Just to clear any confusion when you say pauses you need it makes no noise like motor running? May have a small noise in console.

@pugs! Pauses, no motor noise.....but a very faint ticking noise like a "timer" moving like the seconds-hand of a clock! I'm assuming it's doing this as it "run it's course" thru the wash cycle ... with no actual washing action

Now, if you say it's repairable....do you think it's something easy-moderately easy for me to do myself? Thank a bunch for your replies!!

Timer 10 to 15 minute job but you also said doesn't spin out the clothes.
Look inside cabinet about 6 inches from floor you you may see a streak of oil. If there you need a gearcase top seal, clutch and drive coupler. lean washer back against wall to look under it.
let us know what you find.
