GE Water Dispenser Frozen In Door?
I have a GE refrigerator, model GSS20IEPD WW.
A few months back I had the defrost heater go out and had frosting issues in the freezer. I have fixed that problem, however about the same time the water dispenser stopped working. I didn't use it much so I didn't worry about it.
I've since decided to see if I could get it working. Through troubleshooting I know that I have water to the connector at the bottom of the door. When I try to blow air through the tube that runs through the door it is blocked.
I have read that it is likely frozen so I'm thinking maybe when the freezer was acting up the tube froze.
My question is, how the heck do I defrost that tube? I see no way of getting to it.
Thanks,
Gary

It usually freezes at the dispenser end. Try sticking in a piece of heavy fishing line. It will more than likely hit a frozen blockage in a few inches. You can carefully use a blow dryer to unthaw it.
The following is an OEM / aftermarket spout heater kit to stop that freezing issue.

I tried the hair dryer and it didn't seem to work so I shut off the freezer and left the door open for a while and whoila! I have water again!
Thanks for the suggestion. I'm guessing it was a little of both.
I'm gonna see if it freezes again. If so I may give the heater a try.
Thanks again!!!
