fridge filters last only two weeks

We have been changing water filters in our new Samsung refrigerator every three weeks; otherwise, the water dispenser makes a tapping/hammering noise and spits out small portions of water. I guess a lot of debris enters the house water line. Would it be cheaper to install another filter just upstream of the fridge to collect all the larger debris? Or is this due to freezing of the water somewhere in the water line? Thanks in advance. Best Wishes, h.

I haven't run across that problem. If it was a freezing line problem the flow should return to normal as soon as water starts to flow as that would melt the ice quickly.

What is your house water source ?

If you are experiencing this not only in the refrigerator but in the kitchen and bathroom sinks, where the aerators are becoming clogged, then I would install a whole house filter system in a convenient place so you can change filters easily. What are your temperatures, now, and do you have exposed piping either outside your house or under the crawl?

If the debris is coming from the water supply you need a whole house filter like Larry suggested! I ought to do the same because when ever they work on our water system I tend to get debris in mine Once or twice a year I have to disassemble and clean one or more spigots to remove the debris
