Dishwasher not draining
It’s an 11 year old Kenmore dishwasher, Mod. 665.1552. It goes through the whole cycle, not a drop of overflow on the floor, but after the cycle the bottom is filled with water. The sink drains perfectly(no garbage disposal). I disconnected the drain hose and attached it to the shop vac. to hopefully suck out any junk. No water or junk came out. I read something about the float inside the machine being dirty or faulty. I gave it a slight tug but it didn’t come off. Is there a way to check/clean it? I’m really not into pulling it out and trying to troubleshoot it. I’m wondering if I should even call for service for this old machine that only cost $350.

Hello neighbor to the West.
You posted an incomplete model number. There should be an ID tag with a few more digits printed on it.
I do know you have a Whirlpool built machine... just not the type yet.
It may be a minor issue. We'll check it out.

Unless you are in Europe, I'm your neighbor to the East. Anyway, according to the manual there is only one more digit at the end of the model number I gave, and that is for the color. Any help you can give will be appreciated. Hope I don't have to buy a new one.

Whirlpool built units for Sears are 11 digits long. Since you didn't post the entire model number I'm using 665.15522000
The most common problem is a stuck ball in the check valve. The following link shows the check valve and how to access it. There is a video posted there.

The next likeliest problem is a clogged sump. Have you lifted the filter assembly and cleaned below it ? You could also have a bad pump impeller but that's not as common a problem.
