Whirlpool washer won't start. (hums and drips)

Hi all,

I have a whirlpool washer 3954578 is the part number on the wiring diagram, that just stopped. My wife says it was leaking so I pulled the tub and bypassed the lid.

Ran for a while then stopped. Now it won't run anymore, makes a humming sound and water drips when I turn it to run.

Any chance that bypassing the lid switch I might have blown a fuse?

FYI the model number under then lids is 8280869

Any feedback would be greatly appreciated.

Neither model # works, Check the one under the lid in back, will have model # and serial # don't need serial #. The washer will not fill? if you turn it to spin will it spin? Try to fill on hot waterand let us know what happens? need correct model #

I recently had problems with my whirlpool washer also. I learned how to run a diagnostic mode and fix the error. Here is a link that might help.

His model does not have electronic control and therefore does not have any diagnostic mode. It is a bottom line Whirlpool direct drive machine. Single speed motor, no ATC, no extra's, just a timer control.
