Magic Chef chest freezer (model #HMCF 7W1) not freezing

After initial freeze (and reaching proper temp), MC chest freezer won't come back on unless I spin the temp dial to 'run'-green light comes on & frost forms but by next morning temp has gone back up! It's getting a bit tiresome to perform this ritual every morning.

Welcome to the forums.

It could be a thermostat problem or a start relay problem. You'd need to check the voltage at the compressor when the thermostat calls for cooling and the unit is not cooling.

What should the voltage read at the compressor? 110V? Would replacing the thermostat solve the problem? Is it an easy fix? YT video made it look easy??? Thanks.

The thermostat should be just two wires and easy to replace but you need to make sure that is the problem.

Yes... the voltage at the compressor will be line voltage or 120VAC.
