Maytag Top-loader wash machine stopped

My faithful old Maytag wash machine quit today.

It was mid-cycle when the water quit running. Now it will spin and drain, but it will not run water into the machine. What do I need to do?

Thanks in advance for your advice,

not a common problem but if i remember right there is a fuse in the white wire someplace, Forgot where it is but check it, May be hard to find, I think i found one behind front panel on right side in wiring harness.

The fuse is part of the lid switch assembly inside the control panel. If it is blown, the lid switch is probably bad so just replace the whole assembly. The fuse will blow if the lid switch is stuck closed. The fuse is in the water fill circuit so the washer will not fill if it is blown. This basically prevents you from using the washer until you fix the lid switch problem.

That was it! Many thanks

Thank you all so much. Between my teenage daughter and my husband, they got the fuse replaced and it works!

Unfortunately, merely dropping the lid caused the fuse to blow, so they've replaced it twice already. Need to find something to pad the lid so that it cannot "clang" shut.

Many thanks for your help!!! It's so nice to be able to fix it yourself instead of calling the repairman.

Agree, those places should have what you need to fix the issue.
