Frigidaire dishwasher not completely draining

Hi all-

My Frigidaire DW (FDB1502RGC2) is not draining completely. There is always water above the filter screen when the cycle is complete. I checked the check ball and it moves freely. I replaced the drain pump and ran it and it left more water than it did before. The dishwasher is not connected to the sink and or garbage disposal. It is located in a different area in the kitchen. I looked at the clean tubing and don't see any obstruction. I went downstairs where it drains (it is connected from the dishwashers included drain line to a red garden hose to the pvc pipe) and disconnected it and nothing came out. So that tells me that there must be a clog, right? The thing that confuses me is if it is clogged and there is maybe a half gallon of water in the dishwasher, how did the other water get drained? It says it uses 6.1 to 8.5 gallons of water each load, but there is always this half gallon left. Wouldn't my kitchen be flooded if it were clogged? Another thing. I've ran it maybe 6 times since this has happened and i'd say half of the time the water drains it self after about 12-24 hours and the other times it just stays in there.

Anyways, I just paid $45 for the drain pump. Now if I call somebody who know how much that'll cost. I could buy a whole new unit for $350 - $400!

Your draining the dishwasher downstairs and thru a reduced sized hose.

The dishwasher won't overflow as it has a safety float in the tub that will shut off the water if activated. The dishwasher isn't designed to pump the water long distances and the drain hose needs to be run up higher than the tub before going to the drain.

Your setup may be acting like a siphon and not allowing the dishwasher to drain when it's supposed to.

Thanks for the reply. This dishwasher is 6 years old already and just started doing this. And the home inspector said it was ok. I dunno.
