Question washing machine motor-swap

I have a older (mayme 15 years)Kenmore/Whirlpool washing machine with a bad motor.
the motor is a direct-drive, 2 speed motor, capacitor start, with what looks to me to be heavy winding.
i had picked up a used motor, that is physicaly the same,
BUT, it does NOT use a capacitor,& the connector plug is wired differently.
My Question is
has anyone tried to use this motor,as a replacement, for the one with a capacitor, by re-arranging the wires at he connector ?
or
Am I wasting my time ?

thanks
Mike

I would try to find the right motor. Wires to motor most likely in wrong slots. There are only 2 or 3 different motors for those years
