Slow water dispensing when new filter installed
Been having this problem for quite some time. When I replace the water filter on my side by side Whirlpool Gold Refrigerator (Model GS6NBEXRS00) I get very slow water dispensing(takes 20-30 seconds to get 8 ounces). I follow the instructions to purge the water filter system with the 3-5 gallon of water and until no more air is detected when dispensing water.
I thought it was a kink in the line but if I remove the filter and let it dispense without the brand new filter, the refrigerator can fill in about 6-7 seconds. Could it be the water filter housing that is clogged or damaged?

This is an extremely common problem. Several problems can cause it.
Make sure the supply valve to the fridge is turned on all the way. If you are using a saddle valve pipe connection.... replace it.
Try using only a factory Whirlpool filter.

I've checked for kinks and didn't see any. I'm not sure that is the problem because when I remove the filter the flow is very fast. It's only when I install the filter. I have always used the genuine whirlpool filter...
