I recently moved a Hotpoint electric range/oven and this box fell out from the bottom. What the heck is it, and where does it go? I looked around down there and didn't see anything obvious.

I dunno.... looks like some type of grease catch pan in one of the pictures.
It looks different in every picture ?

Sorry, not the best pics. I'll explain. It has a hinged top, and the fist pic shows it with the top closed. Second pic is with top open, and you can see that aluminum pan that's inside it. Last pic with top open and pan removed.

I still think it's some type of grease catcher. Can you post the stove model number ?
It's usually on a tag down by the pullout drawer.

Yeah, I think so too, but I don't see where it would attach. Model number shows R B787B C5BB
Manual is here, but I don't see any reference to this thing. Don't see it here either.
Makes no sense. How could grease get out of the oven anyway? And it's a smooth top stove, so I don't see how it would relate to that, either.

Here is a diagram of your range. I could not find anything like what you have.
HOTPOINT ELECTRIC RANGE Parts | Model RB787BC5BB | Sears PartsDirect
Click on each picture and go full size and than click o plus sign.
One of pictures looks like a microwave hanging bracket but they don''t have a drip pan.
