GE dryer (HE sensor dry)

Dyer is only year and half old, and i am getting a metal on metal "grinding" sound when i spin the drum. I am missing the metal tip from the string on a hoody so i am guessing its in there somewhere! However, i can't get the dryer open, i have read and watched 1000 tutorials on opening dyer cases, however none of the standard tricks seem to open this up.

Anyone know what I need to do to get the top off? There is a plate that is screwed onto the sides under the top, and the top is clipped into it, so i cant pull the top up because its clipped to a piece that is screwed on and i can't unscrew it because the top covers the screws!

Any help is appreciated!!

Post model # so can see which dryer you have. Standard front load there are 2 screws in door area that hold top on Screws are about 2 inches long. Top will pull forward and hinge up a little Some you will have to slide it to the left (it I remember right) and will come off console 2 screws in front holding front on. Hope that is all you will need to do. Let us know if it is right dryer.

gfmn110 ed1ww is the model number.

door off, screws removed from bottom and from the door area, bottom comes out a bit but it feels attached under the panel above. fairly new to this and worried about how much pressure is normal to apply.

You have a front load washer that matches dryer. Forget everything I said. Take top off dryer (usually 2 or 4 screws in back), top slides forward and lifts off, Console comes off and than screws under it to take front off. Been couple of years since I did one of yours. May have missed some steps.
Here is a diagram of dryer

when you say forward, so you mean slide it towards the front or towards the back?

part 344B is screwed into the sides of the case and it is hooked into the top, so it doesn't really want to slide in any direction.

Screws out of back and top slide to the front. Some move pretty hard. 344b tell me what picture it is in.

cabinet diagram....i have every screw out i can find...the top isn't moving its clipped into the plate...and the control back is high than it, so it can only slide back really.

Sorry retired a few years ago and thinking of wrong dryer. the screws are in a lip that hangs over the back (I seem to remember) so top will slide back not forward. Something different about GE that I can't remember. GE washer dryers always a PITA to work on. Some of them had a cover or trim that had to come off also. I don't see anything like that in diagram. I think I will be in Lowes tomorrow and will see if they have a dryer like yours and try to refresh me.
