Kenmore washer making loud noise and clothes are still wet

My Kenmore washer (model 11020022012) makes a very loud mechanical grinding sound between cycles although this is not present during every use. Sometimes the clothes are still wet after a full cycle has completed although I'm pretty positive that the machine is spinning. I ran a diagnostic and got f7e5 and f7e6 fault codes. Could it be the shifter assembly? Can the shifter assembly cause the motor fault code? Or is the motor causing the shifter fault code? How do I know which to replace? Thanks so much

That washer has a habit of pulley falling off. It will make a racket before it does. Lean washer back against wall. 13 MM bolt in center of pulley. Tighten it up. Better to take out and put some loctite on it. Can get a small tube at any auto parts store. If bolt has fallen out you will find it someplace under washer. Don't worry about groove cut in plastic cover. Won't hurt anything.
