Ran Electrolux dryer without filter

I accidentally ran our Electrolux Dryer (EFMC617STTO) without the filter this morning! Shortly after starting the dryer the machine slowed, then made a thud noise and stopped. I immediately realized what I had done and ran to the dryer and found that a few cleaning cloths and baby cloths had slipped into the filter area.

I have read other threads about similar circumstances and believe that one of the small cloths probably slipped through into the dryer machinery and stopped the system.

I have looked up the manuals for our machine but can not access info about how to take the front of the dryer off to look inside. Any information about how to remedy this would be greatly appreciated!

Thank you so much!

Welcome to the forums.

Please confirm and repost the model number for your dryer.

Baby clothes and socks are so small that they do end up stuck in the blower.
With the correct model we'll tell you how to open the machine.

Electrolux dryer model number: EFMC617STT0

When I looked for info about this dryer online the closest model number I was able to find was EFMC617STT. It did not include the last digit '0' included in the model I have at my house. I trust that these models are similar?

I greatly appreciate your assistance with this!

You are right something is stuck in blower. You have to take the front off to get to blower. To take front off you have first take top off (screws in back) from there you will have to take off the parts in front until find the screws that hold front on . Usually under control panel and 2 or 3 screws low down inside door. Sorry can't give you a step by step tear down as I may have only worked on your type once several years ago. UNPLUG DRYER FIRST Here is a break down of dryer. Have worked on many dryer like yours and only takes about 1/2 hour to do job.

Pretty common problem with that type of dryer. Have taken many things out of blowers. Unfortunately you have to take apart to fix.
