Question Wonky control panel buttons on LG dishwasher

Hi all-

My 8+ yr. old LG dishwasher has its control panel on the top of the door, and from time to time the buttons simply refuse to respond to pressure. From what I can find online, the main control board ($150) might be the problem, but the parts site notes that this part is often misdiagnosed as faulty, and a multimeter is needed to determine if it is sending voltage to the buttons. Any suggestions are most welcome. Thanks!

BTW, model # is LDF6920ST, if that helps.

You can find a cheap multi meter. It's better than paying $150 for the part.

Oh, I have a multimeter, but I wouldn't know what to measure, or if the results were correct with out a repair manual. Do you know if one can be had, and if so, where? Thanks.

Remove the front kickplate from the washer and there will be what's called a tech sheet. It will probably be folded up and it may be in a plastic bag. Look carefully.... you may need to use a flashlight and a mirror but it will be in there.

On that sheet it will tell you how to check the keypad. I mentioned keypad because that's what usually goes bad.

In case you can't locate the tech sheet.... the link is the basic service manual. It relies on the tech having general electronic troubleshooting so it doesn't go into great voltages detail. Check the ribbon connector cables from the main board to the options/display board for corrosion too,

OK, sounds like a plan. Hopefully my washer (which has been service before) will have this sheet. Thanks!
