identifing a kenmore washer

I wasn't sure what was the best sealer to purchase when I removed the top cover on my transmission. I watched several videos on YouTube and they all recommended Permatex Ultra Black maximum oil resistant gasket maker. This is what I used and it appeared to work well. It's available on Amazon.com (https://www.amazon.com/Permatex-8218.../dp/B0002UEN1U) and Home Depot (https://www.homedepot.com/p/Permatex...5180/302775055)

got it all back together, did a load, worked, but paused between rinse and spin. before it drained.
next day, another load, paused again between rinse and spin, tub full of water. knob slowly advanced to off, tub did not drain or spin.
i moved the knob around to spin, it hummed, then i heard a click, like a switch or auto reset circuit beaker tripping.
what can i check next, or did i install something upside down or backwards?

The washer should pause for a few seconds between drain & spin. This allows the neutral drain assembly to switch out and let it spin when it starts up again. I have the opposite problem in that my timer isn't stopping between drain and spin. The machine drains fine, but it never goes into spin unless I manually stop the machine by pushing in the timer knob and then starting it back up again.
The motor turns in both directions. When it turns in one direction the machine agitates. When it turns in the other direction, it's supposed to drain and spin. Perhaps the motor isn't turning in the "reverse" direction. You could unhook the motor from the transmission (remove the coupler) and see if it turns in both directions (agitate & drain/spin). If it does, perhaps there is something wrong with the transmission.

I disconnected the drain hose and the water in the tub gravity drained into a bucket.
So the drain is not clogged.
Guess i will take the cabinet off and run it to see if i can figure out what is working, or not working.
I will make a video and post it. Maybe someone here will be able to tell something from the video

took the motor out, laid it on the floor with the electrical jack attached.
turned off the hot and cold water.
turned the dial to wash. motor did nothing. all i heard was the water valve opening. i assume that is normal because there is no water in the tub.
moved the dial to rinse, water valve opened. motor did nothing. turned the dial several times and stopped in the rinse area. motor did not move.
turned to spin, motor turned to the left as you are facing the rear, motor coupling end, not the pump end, of the motor.
any guesses as to what is wrong or what i can check next?
can i fill the tub with water and let it agitate and spin with the cabinet removed?
i realize i cant get close to it, just didnt know if the tub would stay upright with water in it and no cabinet.
i dont need to put it through full cycles, just see if the cycle starts, then move the dial to next cycle.

Did you close the lid. newer washers need lid closed to work, older washers need lid closed to spin.

Washer will run fine with cabinet off. I don't have wiring diagram but might be timer. If not a plastic timer you may be able to clean points.
