Whirlpool Washer Knob Won't Stay Pulled Out

Hello,
I have an older 4213964 Stylemaster top loading washer. It has a circular push-pull knob/timer that has broken. It will not stay "clicked" into the pulled out (on) position. Rather the vertical play on the knob is now loose; not clicking in or out. The washer will start but it stops during the rinse cycle. I can't get it to start up again without advancing it to the spin cycle. I have found a replacement knob on Amazon, but I'm not sure if there is some underplaying mechanism that is the part I need to replace.
Here is a picture:

Any direction you might have would be appreciated.

Thanks,

Ryan

Welcome t the forums.

Unfortunately it is not a problem with the knob. It's a problem with the timer mechanism.
