Question Need help getting Maytag washer to spin (it agitates and drains okay).

I have a Maytag MAV408DAWK Legacy Series washer.

It fills, agitates, and drains just fine. When the motor pauses after draining, it attempts to spin but just jerks a little and does not begin spinning. I cannot turn the basket by hand; it seems jammed. The pulleys on the bottom of the machine all turn fine and rotate easily. There are no clothes / items stuck in the basket to keep it from spinning. One article I read said it might be the thrust bearing kit, but I'm not sure.

I'm hoping it's not the transmission, and wondering if you might know of any other possible causes? Any help would be greatly appreciated!

Oldie but goodie. Turn the center pulley both directions. I forgot which direction but one way the basket should lift a little. If it doesn't You will need to put grease in or replace this part.# 17 under transmission It is tricky to install, can tell you how if you want to do this.
