Whirlpool dishwasher stopped mid cycle

Whirlpool Model IUD9500Wx3 dishwasher just stopped before it was finished and won't restart. Also have water left in the bottom. Wasn't the circuit breaker and we have no clue about dishwashers.

That's one of the models with the buttons in the top of the door..... correct ?
Are any lights flashing or are all out ?

Try killing power for one minute. If that doesn't reset it.... open and close the door.
If that doesn't help..... do you use heated dry ?

Thanks Pete. Yeah, it's got the buttons on top of the door. No lights flashing or even on. Like it just went dead.
btw, not sure if that's an x3 or k3.
Embarrassing but we're not sure how to turn off the power! We'd have to do it via the circuit breaker and we're not even sure which one it is.
I do use the heated dry.
Anyways, we found someone to come out and look at it next week. DH is good at fixing some things, but dishwashers aren't one of them.

It's going to be one of two possible problems....
1) thermal fuse in door has opened. This is an extremely common problem.
Usually opens during drying from excessive heat.

2) the door switch has failed. The unit thinks the door is open.

Thanks again Pete! Will check out those videos. The lights come on even if the door is open, so I'm thinking the fuse. My son installed it for us and he'll be stopping by this weekend, so maybe he'll remember how to shut the power to it.
