KitchenAid KFIS27CXMS3 Ice Maker
#1

KitchenAid KFIS27CXMS3 fridge/freezer has stopped making ice. A week or so after it stopped, it made a couple batches, then stopped again. Shortly after this we noticed water dripping from the ice maker. We've since shut off the ice maker. The water dispenser still works fine. I read that low pressure to the ice maker could cause this, so I replaced a very old filter in the fridge which increased the pressure noticeably in the water dispenser but didn't fix the ice maker. Any suggestions or instructions on how to take apart the interior to get to the ice maker to make sure it's not jammed would be very much appreciated.

The link below is the exploded parts views for your fridge. The icemaker has its own tab. The picture is similar to your icemaker. Basically a Whirlpool design. It hangs on the side of the fridge with two screws. There is also a plug on that side that can be unplugged. Also in the picture is a blue "pipe". This is where the water enters the tray. See if there is ice built up there.

If yes...... it could have been caused by the clogged filter but more than likely the fill valve is leaking. Using a flashlight..... check out the back of the tray where that tube is. You may have to manually unthaw the ice from there to see what happens.

Thanks so much for the reply! I feel like mine may be different from the picture you posted? I'm not sure how to get into the one I have. Seems like the interior plastic "ceiling" may be all one piece.

Is there no storage bin ? Usually the ice make is above the bin.
Is this ice maker in the fridge side ?
These have their own set of problems as they require flowing cold air to freeze the ice.
The picture I left you was based on the part number for your replacement ice maker.
