Ge fridge water dispenser issue

Hi all,
Have a GE side by side fridge with water and ice dispenser. It is about 8 years old and never have had issues with it. Yesterday went to get some water and nothing. Filter is out and bypass plug is in. Tried several times but nothing. Today the water dispenser is leaking a drop every couple seconds but still no water. I used a hair dryer a bit on back of door thinking maybe line froze and also kept door open for about an hour. At some point during the dripping finally stopped. I then tried for water agian and presto water flowed normal. Problem is this time it wouldn't shut off. Had to scramble to get to water shutoff under sink but after about a minute it shut off automatically. Now it's back to dripping and no water agian. Any ideas what to check next. Thx

Sounds like the water solenoid is bad.

Unplug the fridge if it still drips then odds are even higher that the solenoid is bad.

Would this be the water solenoid valve located on the back of the fridge where the main water comes in or is it usually located up inside the door where the water is actually dispenses. Thx
