Ice Maker drops water into back of freezer and ice container

Hello all,

I have a model AD-18 ice maker in a top freezer.

The water going into the freezer apparently leaks. This causes water going into the ice cube container and causes a big rock of ice. There is also some frozen water on the back wall of the freezer. I assume there is a water leak and it is dripping into these places and then freezing.

Any idea what the issue might be?

thank you!

If the tray is overfilling and it's frozen where it enter the freezer..... the fill solenoid is leaking.
It could be defective or the supply valve feeding the fridge is plugged or not open all the way.
That type of valve needs full water pressure to close properly.

Most ice makers have an adjustable fill volume.
Also the ability to run a test so you can see if it is the tray overfilling.

I am not sure if it will apply to your unit but perhaps the following will help.
The ice maker info starts on Page 46.

I don't think the tray is filling as its not making ice. Would it still be a fill solenoid issue?

Look at the back wall of the fridge over the ice tray. You should see what looks like a hole and a funnel under that. If that area is iced up.... there is an issue with the solenoid leaking.

Thank you - and it looks like that is part of the water inlet valve?

What you see on the back of the fridge over the ice maker is the cold water fill area.
The actual solenoid is down in the bottom of the fridge.

A make and model number of the fridge may help.

Yes, I'm sure that would be helpful - the label says Electrolux, model FFUI1826MS0.

Thanks again for everyone's help!
