We have a whirlpool French door refrigerator which is almost 5 years old. I noticed that the right refrigerator door gasket is torn as shown on the photo. The main part of the gasket seems intact. Is it necessary that this gasket be replaced? Thanks. See the vertical slit?
It’s the upper right corner of the right refrigerator door. The slit is in the flap part of the gasket that flexes to allow the two doors to close. I assume the constant flexing is what caused it to split.
The part that seals the door to the fridge opening itself seems intact. That’s why I questioned if it was necessary to replace because the fridge appears sealed when the doors are closed.
Hey all. I can't for the life of me find any info on this fridge that was supplied by the builder when I bought y house a year ago. Ideally I'd like to source a tech manual but can't seem to find one. Whirlpool isn't helpful.
My background. I've been a vending machine technician for 30 years and am well versed in refrigeration. The newer energy efficient stuff leaves me scratching my head though.
My issue is that the cold side evap coils keep freezing over (freezer side is good. dual evap model). I never hear a defrost cycle and can't figure out if or how to do a manual defrost cycle. Without a manual I'd just be winging it.
I've had the fridge for a year without issue and now things are getting ugly with hairdryer defrosting

[*]With the electronic controls will a power outage reset the defrost timer and not allow a defrost? I'm in a new housing development with power issues and lose power at least one a day.
[*]Do the evap fans not always run? Sometimes its on, sometimes it isn't. I can't figure out a pattern unless it is door controlled with a delay of sorts.

Any thoughts or ideas? Someplace that I can source a manual? Could it be as simple as the power going off and on resetting the defrost cycle on an energy efficient fridge?
Thanks for any help

My Mom's central vacuum, Beam model 287S...when turned on, I see sparks coming from the top of the motor, and the mini breaker trips it off in a second or two. In researching repair parts assuming the motor needs to be replaced, I see motor repair parts. From this symptom, does this motor sound like it would be repairable (new brushes, etc.), or should I just bite the bullet and replace the whole motor?
