washer doesn't spin

so I have this washer that we bought 20 years ago. Kenmore Elite top load SM 9710803-A
The thing in the middle (not sure what's called) stopped spinning. well, it spins but the outside portion doesn't. Is there a way to repair this? see picture
Thank you very much.

Look under the lid at the bottom. See if there is a model number like xxx.xxxxxxxxx

The item in the center is the agitator.
The outer part is called the tub.

Thank you. The model is 110 20952992
When operating, you can still hear sound and inside spins. but the agitator doesn't spin.

I'm not quite following what the problem is. When the unit is full of water.... the bottom center piece (agitator) turns back and forth. The top part of the agitator turns one direction.

When the unit rinses..... both the agitator and the tub spin at high speed.

The agitator turns both ways if I manually turn it. when the washer is under load, the agitator doesn't rotate.

It sounds like you need new agitator dogs. Fairly easy to fix.

Yes..... worn out dogs.

Washer agitator dogs. Set of four. OEM 80040
Can be purchased at amazon using that part number.

This is a fairly colorful video posted on you tube. There are others on the right.
