Ice maker only drops ice when test button is pressed

I have a Samsung fridge (RSG257 line) with the ice maker in the door and I replaced the ice maker around 6 month ago because it was broken. It worked well for 6 months and then I had issues again. I thought it was freezing up, but it turns out I only get ice after I press the test button.

If it's only six months old it should still be under warranty.

I finally got back to dealing with this. I looked it up and it was from Sept. 2020. I am going to order a new one. Is it worth getting OEM? OEM is around $120, non-OEM is around $80. I am leaning toward the OEM given the problems I've had.

I mostly use non OEM replacements. The Whirlpool ones can be half the price.
Not sure of the quality of the Samsung replacements.
